This 1990 exhibition at Marian Goodman Gallery, New York marked Thomas Struth's entrée into group portraiture. Already interested in the human group as a subject in his series of Museum Photographs, the artist turned his focus to families and couples from various parts of the world. Struth reveals cultural differences, relationship dynamics and the richness of the nuclear family in this body of work.

Included is a rich and illuminating interview with Benjamin H.D. Buchloh, in which the artist shares his views on the status of portrait photography.
